The Canadian National Pokemon Championship's attendance for those in grades 12 and under is compromised by the timing of the event. Final exams start mid June through to month end.

This means that Pokemon players are forced to choose between studying for final exams and playing and preparing for the National Championship. Parents are put in the difficult position of having to choose between an event that could support the students through a scholarship, yet needing to have the students prepare for school exams. If the event could be held the last weekend in June or the first weekend in July parents and players would not be forced to choose between the two.

Canada is a large country, and those living far away from where the national event is being held are at an even greater disadvantage. Many students write a final exam Friday morning, fly out in the afternoon, then have to fly out Sunday to write exams on Monday.

The cost to fly out and not be able to stay and take advantage of visiting another area of the country makes many parents choose not to attend. With the advent of the internet, the meta game is affected with Major events held in other countries.

If the Canadian Nationals could be held the same weekend as the US Nationals, then the results of one event would not impact the other.

Canadian parents and players are requesting that Pokemon Organized Play hold the Canadian National Championships on the last weekend in June or the first or second weekend in July.

This allows students to prepare and complete final exams and then prepare for Canadian Pokemon National Championships.
