We believe local residents should have a say in the future of the Pilot Station in Watsons Bay. The building is located on Gibsons Beach which is a tranquil setting used by local families and visitors for recreation.

The Pilot Station has been closed since the pilot service was moved to Botany Bay in 2009. Local residents believe that plans are being developed for future usage of the building by NSW Maritime (who own the premises) without consultation of local residents or the local council.

We are seeking support from the local community in the form of a petition to be submitted to NSW State Parliament.

The petition requests that the House direct the State Government to conduct broad community consultation in developing future plans for the site.

The Pilot Station at Gibsons Beach in Watsons Bay has remained vacant since its closure in November 2008.

With over $2 million having just been spent on the nearby Watsons Bay baths and library it is imperative that the Pilot Station be adaptively re-used in a manner which will enhance this historic precinct, preserve its heritage significance and benefit the local community and residents.

Your petitioners request that the House direct the State Government to conduct broad community consultation in developing future plans for the site that respect the above values.

We further request that the owners of the site be required to comply with the outcomes of this consultation.

Please sign below if you agree we need to be involved in the decision on how the Pilot station will be used in the future.
