In June 2005, Phoenix Sinclair died after suffering from physical and emotional abuse and neglect. Phoenix was 5 years old and suffered this abuse at the hands of her own mother and the mother's common-law husband.
They hid the body and nine months elapsed before the little girl was reported missing. Both mother and common-law husband were brought to trial, and both were found guilty of first degree murder.
We petition the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as follows:
To urge the Provincial Government to designate June 11th, the day of Phoenix Sinclair's death, as Phoenix Sinclair Memorial Day.
