We are a senior couple (75-82) wishing to find a seniors residence where we can take our small pet of 11 years. My husband has dementia from a stroke suffered 3 1/2 years ago and I have a heart condition, as well as a cancer survivor.

We have reached a point where we need to live in an affordable comfortable accommodation, but we are not willing to give up our pet. She is small, quiet, loves everyone and is non-shedding, non allergenic and we look after her as though she was a child.

Pets are allowed and catered to in some of the highest priced hotels worldwide, they are taken to Senior's homes to brighten the day, but we cannot live in a decent place, not needing three meals a day, etc. Why do so many of these developers who are only looking for the big buck, not older folks quality of life not adhering to this request.

We, the undersigned, ask the Nova Scotia Government to make it a right for those of us who are in the above situation to make the developers of Seniors complexes, comply with rules regarding the right of people to live in these facilities and keep their pet.

We have paid our debts to the country and province and don't ask us to give up the only thing that means the world to us.
