PETITION TO REINSTATE STATUTORY AUTHORITY OF THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA
We, the citizens of Pennsylvania, hereby demand that the Sheriff’s office of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania be reinstated to it’s original commission. This includes full authority of ALL county Sheriff’s offices to perform same functions as the state police officers and the local police, along with their separate and specialty duties.
We find it absurd that their authority had been stripped by political agendas and case law driven by other influential entities. (Kopco vs Miller and Comm vs Dobbins) There are over 2,700 Deputies throughout Pennsylvania that are not allowed to go into the community and protect and serve their citizens with the highest standards available. This along with a pending tax of $156.00 for each person to pay for the state police is incredulous, when you have said Deputies ready willing and able to do the same job.
This is a travesty and insult not just to the Sheriff’s office but to the citizens under their care. Therefore, I the undersigned Pennsylvania state citizen, request that the Sheriff’s office of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania be once again a fully functioning law enforcement entity.

Each Sheriff is an elected official who has sworn an oath to protect not just the citizens but the Pennsylvania Constitution. They are our last defense against tyranny without and within. Thank you for your effort on this important issue.
