The housing crisis in Canada began in the mid 90's due to the fact that the Canadian federal government of the time decided to get out of the social housing business.
Since that time, several governments (Liberals & Conservatives) have promessed Canadian citizens to address the issue but not much as been done so far to eradicate homelessness in our country.
The National coalition against poverty has initiated this petition campaign to eradicate homelessness in our country & we are asking the Canadian population to support our efforts by signing our petition.
Petition to eradicate homelessness in Canada
We, the undersigned residents of Canada, demand that the Government of Canada do whatever is necessary to eradicate homelessness in Canada; and that the Government of Canada adopts a new National Housing Strategy, including the 1% solution to housing, that is, that an additional 1% of the annual federal budget to be allocated towards social housing.
