I am writing to express my profound concern for the safety of the residents of Mallory Heights. Vehicles traveling at high speeds on a daily basis continue to reduce the quality of life in our neighborhood.
Speeds have been recorded well over 50mph.
Our neighborhood has spent the last 3 years trying to educate drivers that the speed limit is 25mph in our neighborhood. Shockingly some drivers have expressed they will drive as fast as they want too regardless of the posted speed limit.
Our neighborhood has approximately 25 rental homes and 100 permanent residents. Turn over is constant.
We currently have speed calming signs in our neighborhood which do no justice. Cars fly by them as their speed is flashed.
I have spoke to residents in the area who have expressed the same concern as me. The residents in this area are hoping to be able to get speed tables put in place on Logan Drive, Thomas Court, Bermuda Circle and Bayview Way.
Members of the City (Council Woman DeWeese, Chief Simmons and Al Garza) have suggested speed tables as our best defense therefore recommending a petition to document interest.
Our residents feel it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.
We, the residents of the City of Pensacola, petition the City to install speed bumps in Mallory Heights.
Drivers speed through this quiet neighborhood on a daily basis reducing the quality of life and threatening the safety of our resident’s.”
