Lidl, a chain of German budget supermarkets, proposes to build a garish, unsightly and frankly unnecessary store on Rectory road. They bought the site, which previously served as a police station, for a reputed 2.8 million some months ago.
Rickmansworth will not cope with the additional traffic, pedestrian and car. It could also easily become an accident black spot on an already busy road.
The new store will take business from local, independent shops in our high street. In a time when the British high street is in decline, do we really want to further its demise?
We, the undersigned, fully oppose Lidl's application for the provision of a neighborhood food store on the former Rickmansworth Police Station site, Rectory Road, Rickmansworth, WD3 1FJ.
