In March 2012 The Highways Agency plan to close J10 of the M5 to refurbish the motorway bridge. It is muted that closure will be for a period of up to 1 year, potentially decimating the local economy and mass disruption to local residents and commuters.

Worse still is the news that J10, the last remaining junction on the M5 with restricted on/off access will not be upgraded to full north and southbound access during this process.

This after only last week at The Conservative Party Conference where George Osbourne announced immediate investment plans in transport infrastructure to help the economy grow....

We say that motorway access in all directions at J10 is long overdue, and the massive growth of businesses located in the north and north west of Cheltenham demand that the work is carried out to coincide with the 2012 bridge repair works.

"We the undersigned called on The Highways Agency to open access to the M5 at J10 Cheltenham, at the same time as making improvement works to the bridge at the said junction."
