The intersection of Cougar Ridge Drive and Old Banff Coach Road has been the site of numerous unfortunate collisions involving drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. The intersection is most commonly used as a detour for 85th street, running parallel to a populated residential community where pedestrian traffic runs high.
The intersection has originally been a two-way stop, though this does not safeguard the intersection completely. I have personally witnessed too many close-calls and hesitant encounters to stand back watch the danger unfold while the issue remains unresolved.
We, as a community, would like to reach out to the honorable Mayor of our city, Mr. Naheed Nenshi, and express our concern regarding the implementation of a four-way stop at the intersection of 85th street and Cougar ridge Drive.
