We are concerned that this project does not reflect the character of our neighborhood. The home designs consist of bungalow, Craftsman, cottage, and Victorian, with gable or hip rooflines. The area has streets of mostly single-family homes, mostly owner-occupants, broad streets, individually shaped houses, historic homes, and tree-lined streets; many residents have lived here for many, many years, and love it. We want a design that reflects and enhances these characteristics.
The project is adjacent to the McDonald Historic District, and is within the Junior College Neighborhood District, two traditional neighborhoods in Santa Rosa.
Traffic on North Street at College is currently very busy; crosstown traffic already spreads out to local residential streets--Benton, Howard, 13th, 14th,etc. This complex will make local traffic conditions worse.
We, the undersigned, are concerned neighbors who ask the Santa Rosa City Planning Department and the Design Review Board to require changes to this design so that it reflects and enhances the characteristics of our neighborhood residences.
We also ask that mitigation of expected increased traffic be an important aspect of this design.
