Tampa, FL July 16, 2009 - The City of Tampa Transportation Division will present details of the proposed citywide truck-route study. The public meeting will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Jan Platt Regional Library in the Whitt Room from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Jan Platt Regional Library is located at 3910 South Manhattan Avenue.

This meeting is free and open to the public and is organized to gather input from neighborhood leaders and the community to ensure optimal study results. The Transportation Division staff as well as the City’s consultant will be available to answer questions.

FACTS:
-Commercial truck traffic WILL increase due to proximity to Port Tampa
-Your property value will decrease along the truck route...Who's going to buy a house with heavy traffic at the front door?
-Air quality will decrease with the increase of diesel exhaust
-Your safety will be in jeopardy as you attempt to pull out or turn into your driveway as most drivers don't want to be behind the trucks
-Our roads are not capable of handling the increased weight of the trucks and cause damage to our roads leading to our homes
-Noise levels will increase along the truck routes (both day AND night)

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Tampa to prohibit trucks exceeding 7.5 tons, excluding those for local delivery, from transiting Manhattan Ave, specifically between Bay to Bay Blvd and Euclid Ave.
