Without asking you, Thurrock’s Conservative-run Council voted doubling of car parking charges and the introduction of new parking charges at many of the Borough’s shopping centres where small businesses are really struggling in this economic downturn.
At a time local people and small businesses were looking for a helping hand from Thurrock Council. Instead Tory Councillors voted for an above inflation Council Tax hike and lots of hidden extras that will cost us throughout the year.
It’s like a cheap airfare; the headline figure is never what you actually pay once all the extras are added.
The most pernicious measure is the proposal to introduce parking charges at Corringham Town Centre, Giffords Cross, Corringham, King Street Car Park, Stanford Le Hope, Defoe Parade, Chadwell St Mary and, Sockets Heath, Lodge Lane, Grays and doubling existing charges elsewhere.
There are many campaigns against this crazy idea, please support them all as well as signing our online petition. There is strength in numbers.
