Don't take the LOCAL out of Local Councils, out of Local Government. There are strong Councils around such as Randwick City Council, Waverley Council, Woollahra Council, City Council, Botany Council, Marickville Council that should not be forced to amalgamate.
If the amalgamation goes ahead one Council will be responsible for approximately 800,000 residents and visitors to the area, responsible for a massive area.
If the amalgamation happens essential services will be put at risk. Local Council understands our needs. A Super Sydney council of seven inner city councils from the inner west to the eastern suburbs will not strengthen local Government or enhance Sydney's global status.
Say No to forced amalgamations
Say No to forced Council Amalgamations. Centralisation is not the answer. We want to keep it local.
I like many others who have spoken about this want Randwick Council to stand alone. Its our Council. A so called super council amalgamation will not be in the best interests of local communities. And each Council knows what they have and where to apply resources depending on needs each local community.
Keep it local, protect your local Council.
