South East Livestock Health and Pest Authority
Region:
Australia

In 2009 47 Rural Land Protection Boards in NSW were amalgamated into 14 "super" boards called the Livestock Health and Pest Authorities. In the case of the South Coast RLPB it was amalgamated with the Bombala, Cooma and Braidwood RLPBs.

The NSW government stated that the new LHPAs were aimed at saving the ratepayers of NSW money, yet in the case of the South East LHPA (as many other authorities) there was a drastic increase in rates.

I do not believe that there has been any acknowledgement of the new South East Authority of the drain this added burden of increased rates has placed on farmers who are battling to pay increased costs in a drought.

We the undersigned call on the Minister for Primary Industries the Hon Mr Ian McDonald to place the South East Livestock Health and Pest Authority into administration due to mismanagement and lack of service provided to its ratepayers.

Also that the services undertaken by the South East LHPA be undertaken by the Department of Primary Industries.
