Since the ownership of one of the oldest radio stations in Australia fell into the hands of Mr Caralis, the people of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley have seen nothing but a slow disappearance of local content on 2HD with there only being 3.5 hours of local content on 2HD by virtue of Luke Grant's breakfast show with the rest coming out of Sydney or from the studios of 2HD but networked to stations around NSW and South Eastern Queensland.

There is also an unhappiness at the amount of talented on air presenters who have either been sacked or have left 2HD including Richard King (sacked), Roger Clemens (sacked) and countless others who are popular with many people not just in Newcastle and Hunter Valley but around the Super radio network (Richard King in particular).

2HD has meant a lot to a lot of people in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley and to see it go down this path of only broadcasting 3.5 hours of local programming is sad when in the past 2HD has been the local news leader with people like Warren Moore and others letting the people of the Hunter know what's happening in their local community

If there is no return to more local programming that is relevant to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter then I fear that the second oldest station could lose all relevance to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

We, the undersigned, call on the Broadcast Group of Radio Stations to restore local content on 1143 2HD for the people of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley therefore giving Richard King back his weekday drive program and axing 30 - 50% of it's networked or syndicated programming.
