We the Katherine Rural residents were informed in 2014 that we would be receiving access to NBN (fixed line FTTP) in September 2015 along with the Katherine township. This included RAAF Tindal, Zimin Drive, Tokmakoff Road, Florina Road, Uralla Road, Stuart Estate and Cragborne Estate.
In September 2015 we discovered there is no longer a plan to supply either fixed line or fixed wireless NBN to the rural areas and were told by NBN Co that we would be eligible for the LTSS (SkyMuster) when it was deployed in early 2016. At the same time Telstra indicated there were no plans to upgrade their telephone rims in the areas to supply additional ADSL ports.
We are aware that some of our streets have already had NBN prep work carried out for fixed line services including cable laying and rim preparation.
In June 2016 correspondence with NBN Co indicated that some of our areas will not be ready for NBN rollout for the next 12-24 months and we are not currently eligible for the LTSS as indicated earlier.
We the undersigned request the NBN fixed line FTTP rollout be continued as first planned in 2014 to include the Rural areas RAAF Tindal, Zimin Drive, Tokmakoff Road, Florina Road, Uralla Road, Stuart Estate and Cragborne Estate.
