Background (Preamble):
Residents of Western Albemarle County and other concerned citizens, please sign this petition to show your support for music in schools and to call for an increased commitment to the performing arts programs at Henley Middle School and Western Albemarle High School.
This petition and its collected signatures will be presented at the School Board’s regular meeting on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30PM in Lane Auditorium of the Albemarle County Office Building.

We, the undersigned, believe that music provides significant contributions to children’s intellectual development and is essential for a well-rounded education.
The music programs at Albemarle County’s Henley Middle School and Western Albemarle High School are at a critical crossroad.
With changes in several key positions of leadership at both schools, we call for action in providing appropriate staffing, scheduling, and offerings to encourage and ensure outstanding programs of excellence in band, choir, and orchestra, and to grow a vibrant performing arts culture for our children’s academic community.
