Background (Preamble):
The "Mother's Day Proclamation" which was one of the early calls to celebrate Mother's Day, was was written by Julia Ward Howe in 1870, and in it she stated:
"Let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead"
As another author wrote, "I'll celebrate with you as long as you will FIRST mourn with me". It is the combination of the two that lends itself to the true meaning of "Mothers Day".

Petition:
As bereaved parents, we miss our children enormously, and it would be comforting to think that the world remembered that we are parents of not only living children, but ones we have so sadly lost, and as such we would like to be duly acknowledged. We don't stop being parents because our children have died.
We are FOREVER mothers and fathers.
