More Deaf education in Public schools

We, the undersigned, call on the leaders of this country the United States of America to include American Sign Language and Deaf awareness in public schools. Lip reading is highly ineffective. Only 30 to 40 percent of words can be read on the lips.

Teaching young children ASL will help to erase this language barrier between the hearing and Deaf citizens of this country. Also we call on the leaders of this country to mandate more education into the history of the Deaf community and the issues important to our Deaf citizens.
