This is a family friendly neighborhood and the use of basketball goals are a great way for the youth to get exercise and make new friends within the neighborhood.
The bylaws require that basketball goals should be taken down and place out of sight or in your garage. Most familys in the neighborhood work longer hrs than the kids are in school. This limits the amount of time our children get to play basketball, plus there is a health and safety concern moving the the goal in and out every night.
In order to change a bylaw in the bylaws we need to receive 30% vote about 250 signatures. I am not requesting that the entire basketball goal bylaw to be removed just simply modified to the following:
Basketball goals which are permanently or partially mounted require board approval and must be install per manufactures specifications and must be mounted on the homeowners property. Permanent and portable goals are permitted with the following standards:
A) They remain on the home owners property and safely secured with a full water tank and or sandbags or mounted to a board approved structure.
B) Goals can remain outside on the homeowners property as long as they are in good working order.
