Background (Preamble):
The Australian Government's policies for redistributing qualified doctors to rural areas by restricting their access to Medicare Provider Numbers has created a shortage of family practitioners in both metropolitan & rural areas.
Without action, Australian's will have fewer options when it comes to choosing a family doctor.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Health & Ageing to review its policies regarding the restriction of Medicare Provider Numbers to otherwise qualified overseas trained doctors (OTD's).
We would like to see a more reasonable pathway for these doctors to provide quality care for Australian communities, with a lifting of the 10 year moratorium for OTD's gaining a Medicare Provider Number.
