In the Commonwealth of Virginia, sexual assault and sexual battery are classified as misdemeanors. Stealing a chicken is a felony. This needs to change. The damage that a victim of a sex crime is left to deal with is life-long. The punishment must fit the crime.
Sign this petition to make sexual assault and sexual battery felonies. Sign this petition if you believe that perpetrators of sex crimes need to deal with the consequences of their actions, just like their victims are left to deal with the trauma.
