I was 22 years old when a smear test was taken and I was diagnosed with abnormal cells of the cervix. I had to have a colposcopy biopsy which revealed that I had precancerous cells of the cervix at stage 1 (CIN 1). I then had to have a section of my cervix cut away to remove the abnomal cells. Another smear was taken 6 months later which showed abnormalities again. Another biopsy was done and this revealed that the abnormality had progressed to CIN 3, (stage before cancer). More cervix was removed and I was told that child bearing would be troublesome if I had to have the treatment again.

Luckily I didn't and I'm here to tell my story but some women aren't this lucky because they are refused a smear test because they're not over 25. This is why it's important to get this policy changed. If this policy had been in force when I had my abnormalities then I most certainly wouldn't be here today.

Please sign this petition, it could help save a life.

We the undersigned call on the National Health Service to remove their policy restricting the use of smear testing on women under 25. Save lives not money.
