The City of Alachua, FL purchases electricity for resale to residential and commercial customers - virtually all of whom believe rates are both exorbitant and oppressive. In economic boom times, Alachua's electricity rates are cause for complaining.
In a serious and growing recession that may, in fact, be a depression, those rates become a crushing burden that take food off the table and school shoes out of the family budget.
The City of Alachua charges too much for electricity. I am joining with my fellow citizens to request an immediate reduction in rates.
