Local Volunteer Firefighters Should Carry Their Gear

We, the undersigned residents of Prince Edward County, Virginia, are requesting that the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors, investigate and immediately change a requirement of the Chief of the Hampden Sydney Volunteer Fire Department.

Currently the Chief of HSVFD, is NOT allowing local community members to carry their firefighting gear at all times.

We feel this may negatively affect our neighborhoods. This rule forces our own neighbors that are members of the Hampden Sydney Volunteer Fire Department to drive past opur emergencies to pick up their firefighting gear at the HSVFD.

We, agree that this rule needs to be changed immediately, to allow all local community members of the HSVFD permission to keep their firefighting gear, issued by the HSVFD for their use, at all times.
