We, the undersigned, being the residents of the Lincoln Park neighborhood located in the Municipality of Penn Hills, Allegheny County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are in agreement that in the best interests of the neighborhood all new construction should begin on Mount Carmel Road.
The vast majority of demolition in Penn Hills, has taken place in our neighborhood. We lost not only homes, but businesses and jobs. Overgrown debri strewn lots are an eyesore as well as depriciation to the remaining homes.
We, the residents voted on and under the direction of the steering committee for our neighborhood organization the Committee to Save Lincoln Park declared all new construction would begin at the entrance and exit points of our neighborhood.
After meeting with all parties involved many times, the government officials are determined to construct new housing on sites that they approved long before sonsulting with the residents of the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Upon submission of this petition We, the residents are willing to proceed with Action Housing Development in conjunction with Allegheny County and the Municipa;ity of Penn Hills providing our initial site plan is honored without further delay.
We, the undersigned, call on Action Housing, Allegheny County and Penn Hills Planning Department to eliminate their plans on moving forward with construction of two (2) new single-family structures on Travella Blvd. and Runnette Street.
According to the fifth ammendment to the Constitution, "no person shall...be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of the law." It is time for us to unite for a common goal of protecting our rights to own property and have a voice in what shall be constructed in our neighborhood without fear that the government will just take it away from us.
The Municipality steadily increases our taxes, but wants to take away what we worked hard to achieve and will make our investments worth less than what we paid.
