Background (Preamble):
This awful law has been on the books too long already. It doesn't reduce crime. And it forces builders to remove beneficial features in order to comply with the "law". Most of the restrictions restrict cosmetic and ergonomic features, like a bayonet lug and pistol grip.
Petition:
Clinton's "assault weapon" ban is a hated law that does nothing to reduce crime, and is a terrible infringement on our right to keep and bear arms. The law says that this ban will expire in September 2004. Enforce the provision that causes this ban to expire this September instead of trying to pass a new law that would extend or expand the restrictions. Don't even let it come up for a vote, and if perchance it does, vote to let the ban expire as written.
