Miss Hay is the youngest teacher in the department and therefore connects better with the youth of the school, encouraging them to achieve their ambitions. She alone is responsible for pushing many unlikely pupils into the path of music and help them achieve terrific results at all levels of the subject, whilst developing a talent they didn't have the confidence to use.

Miss hay knows a lot more about further education and as she's only recently(ish) graduated she's better to know what we will expect if we choose to study music further. She gives hundreds of pupils the skills to learn keyboard and taught them the entire listening cousre we need for our exams. She is the only teacher that teaches listening in the school as she is the best and most successful in it.

She's an important asset to the continuation of music studies, which have already been bombarded by council cuts; taking the junior choir and seeing the younger pupils have the opportunity to discover the music world. If it wasn't for junior choir I'm sure we'd not have as many musical people in the school.

And she's important personally as her age makes her a good communication if we have any issues/problems. And there's no way you can do prelims without her! She also encourages many pupils into doing the talent shows and helps organise many events.

We, the undersigned, call on East Dunbartonshire Council to refrain from reposting an excellent Lenzie Academy music teacher Miss Hay, to Boclair Academy.

She is a major part of our school who encourages all pupils to develop their natural talents in music and can spot a pupil with real potential miles away. Miss Hay is the youngest teacher in the department and therefore connects better with the youth of the school, encouraging them that they can achieve their ambitions. She alone is responsible for pushing many unlikely pupils into the path of music and help them achieve terrific results at all levels of the subject. She single handedly teaches the entire higher listening course to the year group as she is extremely successful due to the high results obtained each year in this element of the course.

She has taught hundreds of pupils the skill of playing keyboard to a high enough standard enabling them to sit their music exam and is always there to help. We believe for these reasons and many more it is unjustified and unfair to repost her to Boclair Academy due to their absence of a teacher - especially at such short notice- as we shall be losing one of Lenzie Academy's finest teachers and a real favourite of past and present pupils, teachers and parents. She is also a very popular ASDAN teacher who bonds well with all the pupils and gets them involved. The Lenzie Academy music department is renowned for its very strong and highly successful results and to take away one of the finest teachers would only weaken that status.

The council have had enough cut backs involving music and we call upon the council to reconsider its decision and re-allocate funds from elsewhere to employ a new teacher for Boclair Academy. Music is a fundamental part of many pupil’s education and the council's decision will have a negative effect on the pupils' learning.

A top pupil has now been cut from the Advanced Higher music course at Lenzie Academy due to the lack of teachers available during their allocated class time.
The council need to know that they should invest in education, not simply spend on it.
