At present, landlords in the Canton of Vaud can force their rental tenants to rent a car-park in proximity to their building. The parking space is seen as "part of the package" of the rental agreement.
If a tenant doesn't own a car, they must still pay for the space. They have no choice. Hardly fair, and certainly impractical in a city that suffers a shortage of car-parking.
Proposal:
Landlords may not force a tenant to rent a parking space. The tenant must have the right to choose to rent the parking space.
We, the undersigned, call on the Cantonal Government of Vaud to prohibit landlords of rented accommodation to force their tenants to rent car-parks.
