There is absolutely nothing wrong with private enterprise, and profit is not a dirty word, but there are places where the private sector should not operate, primarily within essential public services.

The danger in allowing the private sector to operate within front line essential services is that there is the risk and the potential for "service" to be compromised by the drive for "profit", our health service, our hospitals, ambulance services and GP services should remain fully and totally in the hands of the public sector, accountable only to the general public and to the government - not shareholders.

The number 1 priority of our health service is to provide safe, satisfactory and free universal health care to all UK residents, regardless of health, wealth or location.
Any risk of compromising such an essential service by way of cutting corners, cutting staff, cutting services in pursuit of profit must be eradicated.

We "the people of the Whitby District" hereby call upon The Hambleton Richmondshire & Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group to keep profit making service providers out of Whitby Hospital.

We "the people of the Whitby District" would like OUR local health services, paid for by OUR taxes to be run entirely "not for profit" by a publicly funded and accountable NHS which has no accountability to either directors, shareholders or companies such as Virgin, Serco, Care UK or Circle etc.

We "the people of the Whitby District" call upon you to keep OUR local health services entirely a public service.
