John Teague was serving a long sentence for rape and robbery when he was arrested for stabbing and raping the 16-year-old daughter of an assistant to the warden at Stateville Correctional Center.
While in a meeting, an unidentified male board member was heard voting for parole “with the stipulation of no Viagra or Cialis.” When other members chuckled, he said, “I’m serious,” according to audio recordings of the hearing obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. He is scheduled to be released but this decision must be reversed to protect our children and women.
We the family members of Kidnapped Tionda and Diamond Bradley, Victims of Sexual Rapes, Citizens, and Supporter do hereby serve this Petition upon you for the following reasons.
1. John Teague is a repeated sex offender and should remain in prison to protect Victims any potential victims of sexual attacks from his appetite to do any further harm.
2. This decision made to release John Teague clearly did not consider the impact of his release upon those victims and Citizens which he committed those crimes against.
3. The release of John Teague is a direct slap in the faces of victims, Citizens, and supporters. This bad decision hampers our fight against sexual attacks and further harms the efforts of many, by giving sex offenders a nod of approval to reoffend without the fear of serving maximum sentences.
We request that this decision be immediately reversed. We also resent the unprofessional and uncaring statements expressed in the meeting described above and find it as equally as offensive as your decision to release John Teague back into our communities to further harm our innocent children and women.
