As identified on the NSW Planning website ( http://www.planning.nsw.gov.au/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=nOwRePTJORk %3d&tabid=151&language=en-US ) the long awaited funding announcement to secure the retention of the ‘Rozelle Pontoon’ has eventually happened. As part of the ‘Sharing Sydney Harbour Access Program’ 2010 grant round the Minister for
Planning Minister Tony Kelly MLC has finally announced funding of $52,500, in a dollar for dollar funding to match Leichhardt Council’s funding allocation. This will see a total of
$105,000 allocated for the project.
The announcement by the NSW Planning Minister will now allow Leichhardt Council finalise its restoration plans for the King George Park site post the
completion of the redevelopment of the Iron Cove Bridge”.
The pontoon ensures that Rozelle residents can now look forward public access to the waterfront for recreational benefit and community enjoyment.
