The Ealing Cabmen's Shelter has stood proudly at the site of Ealing's taxi rank since the 1800's. This historical building is a well known landmark that sits comfortably in its surrounding conservation area.

It has served five generations of taxi drivers, offering shelter as well as a place to refresh and rest.

Ealing council propose to demolish this old, unique and fully preserved building and place a modern glass structure and bike stand in its place.

Ealing council also intend to reduce the size of Ealing's taxi rank. Consequently, there will be fewer taxi's available for hire and/or increased congestion on the surrounding roads as taxis compete to park.

We do not contest Ealing council's plans for a bike stand, however, we do challenge the suitability of this new structure in this preservation area. We are also opposed to creating more overcrowding on Ealing's streets by reducing the taxi rank.
