Marblehead Elementary is losing a teacher over being short just 10 enrolled students this year. This loss puts a devastating emphasis on money instead of the welfare of the students at our school.
As a Title 1 school, a lower student/teacher ratio is even more crucial, especially during this transitional time.
There have been district discussions this year about lowering class sizes. And with this teacher loss due to a deficit of just 10 enrolled students before the summer enrollment deadline, it appears that our students are not the first priority.
Given the population of our Title 1 school, we are asking that this district mandated teacher surplus, be overlooked for our school this year.
We, the undersigned, call on the Capistrano Unified School District to NOT eliminate a teacher from Marblehead Elementary.
