The Kansas City Country Club is scheduled to remove 18 trees in the near future and more in coming years. We feel:

•Our trees are an essential part of the character and beauty of our club. They are what distinguish KCCC and enhance the experience of playing the course.

•Too many trees have been removed already in the last four years.

•We have not yet seen the full extent of tree death from the drought and heat wave of 2012.

•There will likely be unanticipated tree death from the construction of the irrigation system in addition to the normal rate of tree loss.

•Many are irreplaceable trees in our lifetime.

•Due to tree removal, we have already lost the elegance and aesthetic of our driveway experience.

•There should be full disclosure to the membership of the number of trees that have been removed from the golf course in the past four years as well as how many more and which trees are planned for removal in the future.

•Less shade requires more irrigation.

•The membership has not been adequately informed of any of these decisions.

•Most of the new trees planted have been small ornamental trees.

•The future of the course will not have the traditional beauty of a canopy.

•It is our responsibility to protect the future of our golf course and the beauty of our entire club.

•These are permanent and irreversible decisions.

We, the undersigned, request an immediate halt to the tree removal on the property of the Kansas City Country Club.
