On the 07/08/08 Peter Seaman(66) was attacked and killed whilst out walking his dog, having got into an argument with Alec Pearn(21), during this confrontation Alec walked across the road picked up a 3ft stick walked back across the road and attacked Peter Seaman, fracturing his skull in 2 places as well as 2 broken ribs and severe bruising to his arms, these were the defense wounds as he tried to protect himself from the blows.
Despite the evidence against him Alec was only convicted of manslaughter, with a 6 year sentence of which he will only serve 2. This should have been a conviction of murder with a life sentence.
We the undersigned ask the Home Secretary to review the conviction of Alec Pearn, Convicted of manslaughter despite overwhelming evidence that this was murder.
The judge left no doubt as to the verdict that was expected, the evidence presented in court left no doubt that this was murder and yet the jury came back with a verdict of manslaughter, this left the judge with no alternative but to give such a lenient sentence, we can only look to the jury as to why they chose to ignore the evidence that was presented to them during the trial.
