The Adhikari couple who have been on a hunger strike in an attempt to seek justice for their deceased son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, murdered nine years ago at the age of eighteen during Maoist insurgency, have decided to resume their long running hunger strike.

Earlier in September the couple had ended the strike after the culprit was arrested but when shortly later he got acquitted the couple re-started their hunger strike.

On the 8th of December the police arrested another suspect involved in the case but he hasn’t been tried yet. After the previous experience the Adhikari duo rejected the government’s plea to end the hunger strike unless and until an urgent action is taken against the culprits.

The second phase of the fast itself has already crossed over 45 days and the doctors attending them have declared their condition to be very critical. Their lives are at stake and if the government does not take this case seriously than their “fast-unto-death” might just take its literal meaning.

We, the undersigned call on the government of Nepal to take Krishna Prasad Adhikari’s murder case seriously and to understand the severity of the situation as two people’s lives are on stake.

Justice needs to be provided and a serious action needs to be taken as this also raises a big question on the countries law and order.
