Just 'bout retiring that jersey number, Boss.

Dear Seahawks staff and 12's -

I'm sure I am not alone in feeling heartbroken to be losing one of the greatest players in Seahawks history. The news hit me hard yesterday as I'm sure it did us all when Lynch posted his "hanging up the cleats" photo.

As much as I respect his decision, it's going to be rather difficult I think to watch our guys out there playing without #24 doin his thing along with them. It just won't be the same.

Anyone with respect for the game itself and the kind of running back he is knows what a loss this is to the NFL. I can't think of one single player in history causing earthquakes from his enormous plays. And for a man of few words, he speaks volumes loud and clear in the way he plays, both on and off the field.

So, with that being said, I think we all owe Mr Beast Mode something a lil more than a "Thank you" or a passing comment wishing him well on social media. I believe we owe him ALOT more after everything he has done for us. All of us.

So, my proposal is this -

Number one, if Marshawn decides that this is it and his days of playing football are over and truly decides to retire - then I feel #24 should retire with him. I can't fathom that number on anyone else and not only that - Beast Mode deserves that. He earned his spot and earned that number.

Number two, just like with his number - I believe we should retire the nickname Beast Mode also. I really like Thomas Rawls and I can't wait to see what he's capable of in the seasons to come. But I don't feel it's fair to clone another man's nickname that he earned while being "Just bout that action, Boss". Cmon 12s!

We can come up with something without robbing a nickname attached to one of the greatest Seahawks ever! Let's retire that name with Lynch as the one and only Beast Mode and the one and only #24.
