Each new day brings news of more job cuts throughout Britain; higher unemployment; more businesses closing; personal debt rising and more people filing for personal bankruptcy.
It also brings more news of fatcat bankers, corporate executives and even some politicians propping up their vast wealth with bonuses and backhanders that are paid for by the tax payer.
As pensioners, single mothers, students and hard working families across the country struggle with day to day living, this is surely and utterly contemptable and must stop.
We, the undersigned, call for a peoples inquiry into the recession. This inquiry should be made up of trade unions, community groups, consumer rights groups and other NGO's; to establish how we have ended up in recession, who was responsible, what involvement the UK Government has, where the financial regulations failed to act in the public interest and how we prevent such a situation occuring in the future.
