Each year the City of Burlington receives an unspecified amount of Community Development Block Grant funding from the Federal Government. This funding is to be used in low to moderate income neighborhoods within the City.
Baldwin Road is a major throughway for persons who walk from Apple Street neighborhoods to destinations beyond Church Street. There is no designated area such as sidewalks for pedestrians to walk, therefore creating a safety issue. While a few homes on Baldwin Road have curb and gutter the system is incomplete. The Morningside Drive community as well as the Evans Street community has curb and gutter.
The installation of curb and gutter along with sidewalks will greatly increase safety, maintenance and community character issues on Baldwin Road.
The below signees do request that the City of Burlington, NC construct curb, gutter on the odd side of Baldwin Road and construct curb, gutter and sidewalks on the even side of Baldwin Road.
