CosWEcount! inc. Colac Ambulance Crisis / Statewide Victorian Ambulance Crisis: 15th April 2014

There is only ONE available Ambulance to service more than 20,000 people over a 4,000 plus Square KM area [the Colac Ambulance catchment area].

The Colac Hospital continually use this one available Ambulance for non emergency patient transfer to Geelong and once in Geelong it can be used to respond to Emergencies within the Geelong area leaving Colac with NO Ambulance for up to 12 hours at a time.

CosWEcount! Inc. Have obtained Ambulance Victoria FOI Documents which substantiate these claims.

When this occurs Camperdown 47KM away must respond to Emergencies in Colac and surrounds and if Camperdown Ambulance is busy then an Ambulance from Geelong 75KM away must respond to Colac.

This has more than likely contributed to a number of deaths in the Colac Ambulance Catchment area. Accordingly CosWEcount! Inc. make the following Statement of Claim/s in the form of a Petition.

We the undersigned call on the Victorian Government to initiate the following Improvements:

1, Victoria Statewide Hospital / Ambulance Non Emergency Patient transfer [NEPT} fund to be established specifically dedicated to providing that service, to ensure that local Ambulance services remain available at all times for Emergency response situations.

2, Country Fire Authority [CFA] to be made available to call out as first responders to resuscitate, provide pain relief and stabilise patients in Emergency situations until an Ambulance arrives.

3, Colac Ambulance service to be resourced to ensure that at least two [2] local Ambulances are available at all times for Emergency response situations.
