Following the purchase of Long Lake approx 2 years ago, planning applications have been submitted by the owner initially for a large Wakeboard Park / Water Ski Park (including chalets, hard standing for caravans, car park, large clubhouse). This was rejected by the Hemingford Grey Parish Council, Hunts DC Planning and then also went to appeal and was rejected.

Now, a second planning application has been submitted for a wakeboard cable to be installed along with changing rooms and a car park. Although this is a smaller development being proposed, some Hemingford residents fear that it is just the start of something larger, as was applied for previously.

A barn has been built on the land near the Lake and we fear that in time a planning application will be made to change the use from agricultural to residentail/clubhouse usage.

Dear Hunts DC Planning Department

Re: 1300002FUL

As a resident of Hemingford Grey, I wish to point out the following facts:

* There are already four cable wakeboard parks within a 40 mile radius of Huntingdon

* All of these sites are purposely situated well away from any residential areas

* Research has shown that wildfowl and other wild birds hit zipwires regularly and die as a result: this planning application is within a designated County Wildlife Site

* 93.5% of those who responded to the Hemingford Grey Parish Plan questionnaire said they were already well catered for by our existing local sports facilities

* The private party on the night of Saturday 7 June has already amply demonstrated to Hemingford Grey residents just how far noise from people and music can travel, let alone loudspeaker announcements and amplified music used in cable wakeboard competitions

* I am concerned about the unidentified number of people who will come into the village by car for the proposed competition/event days and how such events will be “policed”

I have no personal use for a zip wire facility.

A cable wakeboard park for Hemingford Grey?

No, thank you, I object.
