I work in a Supportive Living Facility with senior citizens who would like to have transportation offered to them on the week-ends. Currently they are getting transportation from the local city hall to do business during the week during regular working hours, well the world does not stop or always start at that time.
We are looking to start this petition because they would like to go to Church on Sundays visit relatives on the week-ends or go shopping on Saturdays. There is transportation but they have to get to a different location which makes no sense when they can be picked up right here from the facility, we are talking about maybe an extra 5 to 10 minutes to come here and take them to there destination.
I have called on several attempts to get this started but an always told to get them to the location and they can be transferred. Well, many of them are in wheel chairs and can not get to the designated location without proper transportation.
So, we want to start this petition to see if we can get the para transit to come here to our facility.
We, the residents of Sierra Ridge Victory Centre call on Pace transportation to come to our facility and pick us up as part of the Para-Transit route that is currently in force.
We are senior citizens and live in the community as well as the next person and we feel we are being discriminated against, because you will not come here to pick us up. We want the same rights as your other senior riders.
It is not our fault that we are located where we are, we were just looking for a safe and comfortable place to live.
