HANDS OFF CAPRIVI LAND & NAME!

The extension of Kavango into Caprivi Strip was illegal done years before the latest Delimitation Commission (DC) of Namibia.

No one in Caprivi Strip was consulted before extending Kavangoo Caprivi Strip and even during the DC official private or public meetings.

The extension of Kavango into Caprivi Strip was disputed by Caprivians in writing (submission) to the DC last year (2012) in time but not considered.

The Caprivi name change in all delimitation commission public meetings in Caprivi was never supported and was also disputed by Caprivians through newspapers and social networks.

All people from Caprivi, including traditional Chiefs in Caprivi and the entire leadership of Caprivi were not asked whether they support name change or not.

The Office of the President of Namibia instructed our regional and local government to find a different name, like it or not.

All was endorsed before the DC, and the DC was just a formality.

The territory of Caprivi Strip as defined in the 01 July 1890 Anglo-German treaty must be respected.

There is no need for Kavango region which already has vast land and high population to cross Kavango river into Caprivi Strip up to 90 km towards Kongola.

Name change has nothing to do with development that we have been deprived all along but a waste of time and resources.

We do not want to be too ignorant and lose our proud history and the name.

The National, Regional and local government must do nothing but the will of the concerned people at all times.

Our traditional leaders must be respected by both ordinary people and political leaders at all times.
