Introduction:

We, the undersigned, petition Hackney Council to change Controlled Parking Zones policies throughout Hackney to benefit local business and residents.

Affect On Local Businesses With The Current Controlled Parking Zones Policies: -

It does not support local businesses to survive due to parking restrictions even in some areas, which restrict parking on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. This sort of Controlled Parking Zones policies should be reviewed on a regularly basis’s by independent organisations that are not connected in any way with the Hackney Council, it’s staff including staff’s friends and families. By doing this the Hackney Council will have a better understanding of improving the prospects of its borough’s local economy and having a better understanding on how it is able to support its business rate payers.

The parking restriction should be more realistic in order to allow for non rush hours parking, which will benefit positional customers to purchase/consume products from local business rather than having to use large superstores where there are parking facilities.

We also believe that the current Controlled Parking Zones policies are having a knock on affect on local competition as positional customers do not have a choice to shop at local businesses but they are forced to shop at large superstores where there are parking facilities.

Affect On Local Residents With The Current Controlled Parking Zones Policies: -

We also feel that residents of Hackney are been forced to turn away friends and family due to parking restrictions, which are a bit unrealistic as most of the boroughs parking restrictions are before 8 o’clock in the morning and up to 8 o’clock at night. We feel that these restrictions are unnecessary, unfair and we were not consulted regarding such decisions.

As the majority of the boroughs residents have families with young children, the current Controlled Parking Zones policies do not support us residents in any way.

Conclusion: -

If the current Controlled Parking Zones policies are not changed in order to benefit local businesses, eventually this will reduce the number of local businesses thus increasing the number of unemployed, which will mean that the Hackney council is worse off.

With regards to local residents parking restrictions it should support the community rather than going against them therefore, the restrictions times should be increased to 9 o’clock in the morning and reduced to 5 o’clock in the evening.

To live in a better borough then do something about it and sign up.
