In 2016, Glastonbury Festival caused a great deal of disruption towards our village, Evercreech, a village with a lot of local businesses who suffer greatly in the way of finances during this very disruptive week.
As a village we are aware that it is difficult to avoid disruption coming from such a large event, but feel it unfair that our businesses feel such a large amount of backlash with, what feels like, nothing in return. We had A level students missing exams, and roads blocked up in essential routes out of the village for hours at a time.
This happens every single year of the festival, and while we try to be grateful that something so wonderful and artistic is happening on our very doorstep, it's disheartening and upsetting to know that we will not benefit in any way from the festival, and most of us will only suffer a loss.
We, the residents of Evercreech, call upon Michael Eavis to offer a special release of discounted tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2017 for Evercreech and it's surrounding areas.
