NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Dozens of people piled into WAVE Transit's board meeting to speak up about recent changes to routes around New Hanover County. New routes took affect February 3, and the biggest change according to Thursday's display is the dropped routes inside the Creekwood community and parts of the Castle Hayne area.
In some areas people are having to walk up to half a mile of more just to get a bus to to to work, doctors or to enjoy the community we living in.
Michael Krause, CEO of Wilmington Housing Authority, spoke to the WAVE board on behalf of the public housing in Creekwood.
The change was ‘stealing from the poor to give to the rich,' according to Barfield. Many of the community feels the same way. The took many stops out there were used and added a new route to Carolina Beach.
WE the people of Wilmington and Castle Hayne are calling upon the community to help and get our local bus stops placed back on the routs so that we can enjoy our community and get to and from work, school, and enjoy our taxes.
