Garrett County Maryland currently does not receive local news, sports, and information from any Satellite, and or cable TV Systems due to archaic laws and rules that were put in place many years ago. A new Federal law was passed recently that overrides these old laws and the FCC is revising these rules to be consistent with the new law. The new rules are expected to published by the FCC on or about September 4th, 2015.
The new rules will permit Garrett County to have access to local news, sports, and information from TV Stations in our own state from both Satellite and Cable providers.
We are asking for 11 Maryland TV Stations (list available) including the 4 network stations in the Baltimore area, and the 4 network stations in the Washing DC area. Also the 24 x 7 news station in the DC area, the Hagerstown Station, and MPT. We want them to be available on all Cable Providers in Garrett County including Comcast, Shentel, and ProCom. We also want those same 11 stations to be available to both satellite providers (Dish TV and DirecTV). We want those 11 stations to be available to all cable and satellite providers that provide service to residents in Garrett County".
We, the undersigned, call on the FCC, MD TV stations & Garrett County MD TV service providers to modify the market area for television signals to include the Baltimore Maryland and the Washington DC areas.
