MISSION STATEMENT

The Friends of Blossom Farm Cemetery welcome your interest in our mission to reclaim the burying ground at the old Blossom Farm, victimized by deliberate desecration more than thirty years ago.

Our cemetery went missing, unnoticed by many until, in early 2013, direct descendants of Samson Mason learned of its demise and began efforts to have the cemetery reclaimed, fenced in and signage erected.

The Blossom Farm Cemetery was established in the 1700s in Comstock Landing, a hamlet in the Fort Ann Township, Fort Ann, New York. It served as the burying ground for families of that area for a period of at least seventy-six years. Interments are reported to include over 100 individuals, at least two being American Revolutionary War soldiers, Samson Mason and his son, Shubael Mason.

It is our hope you will join The Friends of Blossom Farm Cemetery's mission. It is also our hope this crusade will bring attention to the problem of all neglected and abandoned cemeteries.

We, the undersigned, call on the Supervisor and the Town Board of Fort Ann to

1) Reclaim cemetery and return it to the people.

2) Surround the cemetery with secure fencing, such as chain-link type.

3) Erect signage commemorating the cemetery and honoring those interred.

4) Prohibit motorized vehicles.

5) Full Disclosure by current and previous land-owners as to the whereabouts of any/all relocated headstones.
